Moving to Shenzhen
Who wants to hop from the "Shopping Capital of Asia" to the "Window of the World"?
Lately, everyone here in the office is talking about moving to Shenzhen. And they’re not happy about it. Should I be bothered too? I don’t know. Perhaps if I were in Manila I should be, but now that I’m here in HK (practically 30 minutes away from the border), I shouldn’t!
I’ve been hearing too many horror stories about Shenzhen and, frankly, those aren’t the type of stories that can shake my patience. The only big downside I see is the visa part. Not for me but for +honhon+ and others who have plans of visiting me.
So should management really decide to move our department there, they won’t hear anything negative from me and there won’t be any separation anxiety on my part. At the end of the day the deciding factor would be the package; otherwise, I’d be one damn barking dog.
Nak Nang!
Two weeks ago may nakita akong pulubi sa Wan Chai ferry footbridge.

Kadiri! Then lipat ako sa sumunod, scud missile naman! Promise, bumaligtad ang sikmura ko. Nak Nang!

Affected ako sa pinanuod ko kagabi. Ang bastos kasi nung dalawang contestants sa Crossworlds. Yes, they are journalists and they can speak English well, pero naman, it's no reason para bastusin yung host. Well siguro that's their way of making pa-cute, pero ewan, irita ako. Hindi dahil crush ko yung host ha!? Then yung isa ang aggressive: may nakita lang cute guy sa daan, kinausap na ng todo at nagpa-cute din! Inggit lang ba ako?! Nak Nang!
Celeb extension
Exactly seven days after my celebration at Jupiter Square, a mini celebration followed. This time at a Korean restaurant in Causeway Bay, where Lou and Peanuts decided to treat me out for dinner.
The three of us indulged in more than a dozen Korean dishes. There were Kimchi, seafoods and lots of veggies. The table was practically overflowing, thanks to the barbecue grill that occupied more than a third of the entire table. And although that big, it still took us about an hour to grill the entire seafood platter.
Marlin arrived just in time for dessert. Shortly, we found ourselves taking the MTR to Wan Chai. Our next stop was at Klong Bar, where we had a couple of drinks. Timing couldn't have been more perfect, as it was Ladies' Night that night. The three of them got free Bacardi drinks, of which two of those I got to consume. My discovery for the night was Guinness Stout, and w-o-w, I actually tasted a different kind of beer other than SanMigs and Millers!

Rina is in town and, as part of the unofficial welcoming committee founded by Peanuts, we toured her around the city yesterday. I’m sure we’ll be doing the same thing once Louise arrives next month.

I feel bad I won’t be in Pinas on the 8th. The entire clan will have an outing in Los Baños. The occasion? My mama and papa’s wedding anniversary. More than anything, it’s the swimming part that I’d surely miss the most. (I know, kaka-swimming ko lang nung 11, pero bitin e!)
Four SIM cards
After four months in this city, I still find myself in the process of discovering things. This same process has somehow obliged me to maintain four SIM cards, with one SIM card outdoing the rest in certain aspects. Oh yes, four SIM cards in four months!
SIM card 1 is my roaming SIM card. Its main task is to receive text messages from Pinas. I need this so Allen can text me as often as he wants to without paying more than a peso.
SIM card 2 is my reply-to-Pinas SIM. Messaging to Pinas is about 3 pesos per 180 characters, compared to 20 pesos if I reply using SIM card 1.
SIM card 3 is my pseudo-landline cum text-all-you-can prepaid SIM. Yes, there’s no limit in the number of local text messages I send, given the receiver and I are both under the same network and are within HK.
SIM card 4 is my IDD to Pinas. Calling directly to Pinas is cheap – about 10 pesos per minute from Mondays thru Saturdays, and about 7 pesos per minute on Sundays.
I wish to end my SIM collection, but I’m sure market dynamics won’t permit. They’ll simply kill the business if they package all four strengths in one SIM card.
