Pork sinigang at last

I’ve mentioned before that pinoy food is a rarity here in HK. So when I got a dinner invitation from the Torios that they are having a little pinoy treat at home, I immediately said yes and started salivating for sinigang, bistek tagalog, etc.

Tonight I am really grateful that I said yes to that invitation -- I have simply satisfied my craving for pinoy food. Promise, I haven’t eaten pork sinigang since I got relocated here, and tonight was a really big treat for my taste buds -- my thanks to the Torios!

While having dinner, my pinoy big sisters and I fell in love with Spider-man Toby Maguire and Supernatural hottie Jensen Ackles. We also marveled at the contestants of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 5.

After dinner, we raided the house of another pinoy big sister who lives in the same building as the Torios.

On my way home, I accidentally took the wrong bus (actually, same bus number but going the opposite direction), wasting time, energy and 10 precious dollars for my stupidity! Although I got really pissed with what I did, the thought of pork sinigang on my tongue helped appease me.

Busy day

There are days when you feel like you haven't done a thing. There are also days when you feel so accomplished because you've far exceeded your to-do list.

Today is my you-have-accomplished-a-lot day. Yehey!

+honhon+ and I started the day early -- breakfast at McDo Aberdeen, went shopping at Giordano, headed to Tsim Sha Tsui to buy my favorite pasalubong candies, had late lunch at Central, picked up a few items at Des Veoux, then went home to pack +honhon+'s things.

On +our+ way to the airport +we+ talked about so many things -- basically briefing each other on how +we+ should live our lives away from each other in the next seven or so weeks, and what +we+ should expect from each other in September.

Instead of arriving two or three hours before +honhon+'s flight, +we+ arrived at the airport about 35 to 40 minutes before the flight (5 minutes before boarding time) and the check-in counter was already closed that time. +We+ had to beg for the check-in counter staff to reopen it for +honhon+.

Thanks to our persistence, +honhon+ was allowed to board the plane.

From the airport, I went home to cook dinner, iron my clothes, do the laundy and surf a bit.

I may be a bit exhausted for now, but I'm all charged up to live the next seven weeks without +honhon+ beside me.

Skinny

Just finished uploading +honhoneymoon+ days 1 (Cyberport, Central and Admiralty) and 2 (Macau) photos on my Multiply site. One big thing I noticed in those pictures: my skinniness!

I have to admit that I haven't been taking good care of myself lately, and Toshi gets the blame. Since Toshi arrived, my eating and sleeping habits have changed drastically, and I find it really hard to revert back to my old self -- believe me, I'm trying really hard!

Two weeks before +honhon+ arrived, I've been told by some of my pinoy big sisters that I've lost weight. I didn't believe them. I convinced myself that it must have been the shirts I've been wearing. But when the pictures of the July 8 get-together in Ap Lei Chau came out, there was nothing left for me to deny (but I can do something about it -- like not upload those pictures). I have really lost weight!

When I picked +honhon+ up at the airport last week, my weight was the first thing that was noticed. And I had to do a lot of explaining to +honhon+ why I've lost weight before I got that big hug.

Since losing weight is a big no-no for +honhon+, and since I have +honhon+ here to monitor me, I am practically eating more now to gain back the weight I've lost (not to mention I'm mostly hands off to Toshi lately).

Fortunately, I think my force-feeding is somewhat effective because I look okay in day 6 (Sai Kung and Pak Tam Chung) pictures.  I hope I also get good shots later, day 8 (Shek O Beach and Big Wave Beach).

Chef wannabes

+We+ are now 5 years and 6 months. Wuhoo!

Since this is +our+ day, and since this is +our+ first time in eight months to be physically together again on +our+ special day, +we+ decided to continue on +our+ practice of doing something different for +our+ monthsary.

Only this time, no more virtual dates, no more lengthy emails, no more costly phone calls, and no more distance that separates +us+.

I can’t remember how +we+ came up with this idea, but +we+ definitely decided to cook Molo soup from scratch! The fun part was obviously the laborious task of preparing the dimsum.

+We+ bought 3/4 kilo of ground meat, mixed it with veggies and egg, and wrapped tiny portions of the mixture in dimsum wrappers. I tell you, I’ve turned +honhon+ into an instant chef! Look at +honhon+’s wonderful creations:

I’m glad that +our+ attempt to cook this dish was a success!

For dessert, +we+ had butter pandan cake roll courtesy of a nearby bakery.

Over dessert, we finalized a long overdue plan of doing yet another something different. We may not be able to experiment on another dish in August, but we’ll surely be doing something different in September -- travel to another part of Asia.

Uwi muna kami ng bahay to freshen up, then swim ng konti sa beach before finally pumunta sa Cyberport Mall to meet the 11 other pinoy friends para manuod ng Superman and have dinner. Wuhoo!

I have so many things to do tonight, including cook three of +honhon+'s favorite dishes, do the laundry, pack food for the beach picnic and clean the house, not to mention take a nice, long bath para squeeky clean ako tomorrow!

HK Observatory says it's going to rain over the weekend pero dedma! Nothing's going to stop +us+ from doing what +we+ have planned, including the trip to Macau on Sunday -- unless of course itigil ang ferry service.

So allow me na magpaka-jologs muli by singing one of Sex Bomb's hits: Di ko na mapipigilan ang kaligayahan na aking nadarama...
